We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Legal Assistant to join our growing legal team. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. This is a 100% remote position, though current residency in California is required. Experience in legal work, especially in workers' compensation, is preferred. If no prior experience, we will provide training.
Duties
- Work closely with handling attorney to manage cases from beginning to end, including management of case file documentation, tracking deadlines and discovery, managing schedules, organizing electronic files, and preparing correspondence.
- Schedule and coordinate depositions, hearings, and medical evaluations. Including preparing necessary pleadings and correspondence.
- Assist with the preparation and filing of legal documents, such as forms, letters, and settlement documents utilizing EAMS Filenet.
- Exhibit professional phone etiquette while handling calls from clients, opposing counsel and other legal professionals.
- Maintain and update client information and case notes in our data management software (MerusCase). This also include entering billing for legal work performed.
- Navigate and utilize applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Kofax Power PDF and other legal software efficiently.
- Perform clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining case management systems.
Requirements
- Preference for prior experience in a legal or administrative support role, with preference given to those with workers' compensation experience. Also open to training individuals with no experience.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Kofax PDF, as well as the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to work independently in a remote work environment.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Proficiency in document review processes and legal case management software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write clearly and concisely.
