Legal Text Editor (Train EDGAR) - Remote
Summary:
Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP is looking for a Remote Legal Text Editor to support the Administrative Services and Word Processing Department. Willkie is an elite international law firm of approximately 1,200 lawyers located in 15 offices in six countries.
We are looking for a Legal Text Editor to train on EDGAR filings who will be able to perform all basic and advanced word processing functions on current software utilized by the firm including Word, Excel, iManage, Jigsaw, Visio, Adobe, DocX Tools, Litera and any additional software the Firm utilizes in the future. Standard working hours will be Monday to Friday 9 a.m. EST to 5 p.m. EST. The successful candidate will have experience editing legal documents and law firm experience.

Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret instructions for each document to be worked on.
- Perform extensive formatting and editing of word processing document, including advanced features such as Workshare, Table of Authorities, Table of Contents, etc.
- Create, edit, revise and print documents on Word Processing system, including labels, backs, fax forms, messenger request forms and all other forms on the system.
- Convert documents from other software into the version we are currently utilizing.
- Perform technical functions including, unzip and zip files, convert files, import files on to the systems, retrieve documents from Microsoft Office Applications, iManage, Jigsaw, EDGAR and other related software documents, etc.
- Proofread work for quality and correct formatting.
- Arrange for return of work to attorney.
- Transcribe tapes and digital/visual files.
- Assist with scanning and faxing of documents as necessary.
- Work for attorney at desk when necessary.
- Follow intake desk procedures including tracking of jobs, keeping workflow moving, discussing details of job with attorneys, interacting with Proofreading, and delivering work to attorney accurately and promptly.
- Cover the intake desk as needed, including Center phones, reception line, negotiating deadlines with attorneys, monitoring workflow, distributing work to operators, tracking jobs in Center email inbox, communicating with other shifts, sending shift report.
- Prepare packages for external delivery.
- Other tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- Some college preferred.
- Ability to type 65 wpm.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Word functions, such as TOC, TOA, Cross-referencing, Glossary, Indexing, Bookmarks, Track Changes, Tables, Drawing, Auto-Correct features, Styles required.
- Extensive experience with converting large, complex legal documents using legal applications such as DocX Tools, Litera, TOA creation software and OCR conversion software such as Omnipage, Innova, etc.
- Willingness to serve as backup for the intake desk.
- Experience creating, editing and troubleshooting PowerPoint and Excel documents, including advanced functions such as embedded pictures and tables, templates, reformatting required.
- Extensive knowledge of Windows Operating System, iManage, Jigsaw, Edgar and other related software.
- Familiarity with Visio is preferred.
- Competence in creating and editing financial tables quickly and accurately.
- Knowledge of Acrobat, including redacting, conversions, PDF binders, graphics and picture manipulation, including resizing, copying, and pasting functions required.
- Familiarization with basic graphics and picture manipulation, including resizing, copying, and pasting functions.
- Familiarization with OCR conversion software.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of general office procedure and practice.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize.
- Legal document editing required.

- Ability to sit at a desk most of the working day and walk short distances.
- Needs manual dexterity, speed and accuracy in handling office equipment.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption.

Employment Status:
The salary range for this role is $90,000-$95,000 and represents the Firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications and location.
