As the SVP, you will play a pivotal role the clients organizational growth and success, focusing on CAISO (California Independent System Operator) and WECC (Western Electricity Coordinating Council) projects.
While they ideally prefer candidates with experience in Wind energy projects, individuals with expertise in Solar or Battery development will also be considered.
Location: This position offers the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the the states. However, they view San Diego and San Francisco as ideal locations for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage a portfolio of utility-scale Solar, Wind, and Energy Storage projects from initial greenfield stages to COD, ensuring successful project execution.
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional project teams, providing guidance and support throughout the development process.
- Collaborate with the commercial and technical teams to identify project locations and assess the financial attractiveness of potential projects.
- Oversee the entire project lifecycle, engaging internal subject matter experts and external consultants for site due diligence, environmental and permitting processes, interconnection, engineering, pre-construction, energy yield analysis, tax abatements, power marketing, and tax equity financing.
- Optimize project competitiveness through a comprehensive approach, leveraging technical, commercial, and financial strategies.
- Play a central role in the due diligence process for project acquisitions, working closely with the company's M&A team.
- Prepare and present management presentations, facilitating internal approval processes.
- Manage project budgets, objectives, schedules, and deliverables for all assigned development projects.
- Actively contribute to regional strategy development and engage in internal improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business/economics, environmental science, or related fields. An advanced degree is advantageous.
- A minimum of 10 years of work experience in renewable energy infrastructure, including a successful track record in developing energy infrastructure projects in the US.
- Demonstrated excellence in project management, with the ability to oversee complex projects from inception to completion.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, exceptional interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
- Experience in mentoring and developing junior colleagues, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% for project-related tasks and site visits.
