We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Architect II to join our dynamic team specializing in construction projects. The ideal candidate will assist in the design and implementation of architectural solutions as well as the opportunity to work on impactful federal projects that shape communities. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Design: Assist in the development of architectural designs, sketches, and presentations for federal projects. Collaborate with senior architects to create innovative and functional solutions that comply with federal standards and regulations.
- Construction Documentation: Prepare and maintain project documentation, including construction documents, specifications, and reports. Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, coordinated, and submitted on time.
- Construction Administration: Assist senior architect in construction administration duties, including site visits, submittal reviews, RFIs, ASIs, meeting minutes, change order management, code compliance, progress payments, coordination with consultants, and closeout documentation.
- Regulatory Compliance: Understand, reference, and apply federal guidelines, codes, and standards, ensuring all designs adhere to applicable regulations, including but not limited to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), International Building Codes (IBC), and others.
- Project Coordination: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders, to facilitate seamless communication and project execution.
- Project Management: Engage in and assist in further developing systems and processes for effective project management, including scheduling, cost estimating, documentation, and tracking the execution of project deliverables and milestones.
- Site Visits: Participate in site visits and conditions assessments to assess buildings during pre-design as well as during construction to ensure compliance with design intent. Document findings and assist in problem-solving as needed.
- Research: Conduct research on materials, products, and technologies relevant to federal construction projects. Stay updated on industry trends and innovations.
- Client Interaction: Assist in preparing presentations, meeting minutes, and reports for client meetings. Develop effective working relationships with federal clients and stakeholders.
Job Qualifications:
- Proficiency in design software, including AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong understanding of architectural principles and tools including construction materials and methods, building systems, application of building codes, and building technology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision in a remote, digitally collaborative, team environment, managing multiple tasks effectively and adhering to deadlines.
- Familiarity with sustainable design practices is a plus.
- A licensed architect is preferred. Progress toward architectural licensure is required.
Education and Experience:
- Education: Bachelors / Masters degree in Architecture from an NAAB accredited institution.
- Experience: 3-6 years of experience in architectural design, preferably in federal or commercial construction projects.
- Some experience working with federal agencies and understanding of specific agency requirements and processes is preferred.
