Job Description: This seasonal position is focused on reading and reviewing undergraduate first-year applications. The reader evaluates information submitted by the applicant including high school transcript, optional standardized test scores, recommendations and/or essays. This is a flexible position and the hours may vary from week-to-week, not to exceed 24 hours/week. This position will begin immediately and run through March or April 2025.

Responsibilities:
Admissions Application Review:
- The Application Reader will review application materials, read essays and recommendations, and evaluate transcripts and SAT or ACT, if provided.
- The reader will recommend admission decisions, review for special admittance programs and suggest a scholarship rating.
- The App Reader will also be required to enter key data points and the approved decision into Salesforce, the Admissions CRM. Several key performance indicators will be used to evaluate the Application Reader including number of applications read per week.
Marginal Functions:
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions Systems and Programs in Enrollment Management or other senior management, as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Home computer with secure internet connection
- Experience in secondary or higher education, preferably admissions, required
- Successful completion of a background check
- May not simultaneously work for another higher education institution or in any role advising or counseling students in the college search process
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Communication:
- Able to give clear and timely information to the appropriate stakeholders in compliance with state and federal laws that safeguard personal information.
- Able to professionally communicate via written correspondence, telephone and face to face. Confidentiality is critical.
- Technology:
- Able to use appropriate software for efficient completion of work objectives.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge about Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems. Accurate data entry skills
- Cultural Understanding:
- Able to demonstrate respect for and engage with people of diverse backgrounds to create a stronger community.
- Emotional Intelligence:
- Ability to understand how this role fits into the overall goals of the EM office and the University, and how the quality and consistency of individual efforts affect other staff in the unit.
- Able to respond positively to direction and performance-related critiques.
- Able to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere on campus and when conducting University business off campus.
- Efficiency:
- Able to sufficiently and independently manage time and meet or exceed key performance indicators.
