Job Summary
The Student Exchange Coordinator plays a vital role in facilitating the J-1 High School Exchange Program. This position is responsible for recruiting and supporting host families, as well as ensuring a smooth and enriching experience for exchange students and their host communities. The ideal candidate will have experience working with families, managing volunteers, and an enthusiasm for promoting cultural exchange and educational opportunities.
Qualifications
- You are comfortable working as a 1099 Independent Contractor with commission-based pay (this is not an hourly position).
- You live in the United States year-round and are authorized to work here.
- You are at least 26 years of age.
- You are willing to undergo a background check in accordance with local laws and regulations.
- You have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Duties
- Coordinate aspects of the J-1 High School Exchange Program, including the recruitment, screening, and ongoing support of host families.
- Build and maintain relationships with host families, schools, and community organizations to foster a positive and supportive environment for exchange students.
- Conduct training sessions for volunteers to strengthen their role in supporting host families and students.
- Monitor the progress of students within host families, providing guidance and assistance to ensure a positive experience for all participants.
- Organize cultural events and activities to enrich the exchange experience and encourage community involvement.
- Maintain accurate records of host family placements, volunteer contributions, and program outcomes.
Experience
- Experience working with families in an educational, supportive, or community-focused role, or in volunteer management, is preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with host families, students, and community partners.
- A passion for education and cultural exchange that motivates others to participate in the program.
