Our client, a leader in the design and engineering industry, is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join their team based out of Grand Rapids, MI. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will take ownership of all engineering aspects for energy-efficient commercial projects, guiding them from conceptual design to final completion. This opportunity is ideal for a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with at least five (5) years of experience in structural engineering, particularly in the design of wood and/or steel structures. Candidates with experience on small to mid-size commercial construction projects and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, as well as internal and external teams, will thrive in this role. To succeed, you must be organized, proactive, and skilled in identifying and resolving issues while demonstrating strong communication and project management capabilities. [Remote] Senior Structural Engineer, Sustainable / Energy Efficient Structures (PE req.) Responsibilities
- Lead the design and engineering of various small-to-mid-sized commercial building projects
- Manage all phases of engineering projects from design to completion
- Ensure that all designs meet local, state, and national building and residential codes
- Conduct load calculations, wind, seismic, and gravity analysis for structures
- Prepare detailed construction drawings and specifications, structural plans, and calculations
- Work with architects, contractors, and internal teams to integrate solutions into project designs
- Act as the point of contact for clients regarding structural design aspects of assigned projects
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers
[Remote] Senior Structural Engineer, Sustainable / Energy Efficient Structures (PE req.) Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
- 5+ years of structural engineering experience required
- 5+ years of designing and engineering wood and/or steel structures experience required
- Experience with commercial 1-3 story buildings, multi-unit, retail or similar required
- Experience with ASCE 7, International Building (IBC) and Residential (IRC) Codes required
- Experience with structural software tools and notational mathematical software required
- P.E. license (in at least one state) required
