UAS System Engineer / Project Manager

Position Overview
Shape the future of drones / unmanned flight! This is an exciting and challenging position with the opportunity to lead improvements to Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and their integration into the National Airspace System (NAS). Use your expertise in UAS Traffic Management (UTM) / Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) to mature those concepts, conduct prototyping / demonstration activities, and write technical papers to establish processes, procedures, standards for domestic and international operations.
Concepts Beyond provides Systems Engineering and aviation expertise to advance Air Traffic Management concepts and develop Information Management & related technologies including IoT, Big Data, Cloud, Security.
Essential Functions
- Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on UAS / UAS Traffic Management (UTM) / Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) concepts, develop Concepts of Operations, identify challenges, and advise on advancing the maturity of these concepts and their integration into the National Airspace System (NAS) and international community.
- Develop white papers, working papers, reports, and other technical documents to support standardization and international adoption with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
- Critically assess UAS/UTM/AAM/ATM concepts and technologies against goals, budget, and schedule to determine the best options and approach.
- Apply understanding of NextGen ATM concepts and the NAS to assess technical requirements & issues and coordinate to ensure resolution.
- Lead meetings and conduct briefings with stakeholders, SMEs, vendors to manage scope, expectations, messaging, and successful performance of project.
- Develop program management plans, budgets, cost estimates, Statements of Work (SOW).
- Manage overall project deliverables, schedule, and financials.
Required Qualifications
- BS or higher in Engineering or other technical field.
- 10+ years experience in engineering, UAS, project management.
- Knowledge of UAS, UTM, AAM, NAS operations and systems, and ability to quickly grasp new concepts and technologies.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to critically assess technical and programmatic issues. Ability to understand big picture while also have attention to detail.
- Self-starter demonstrating solid judgment; understands when to seek guidance but has strong ability to think and act independently under limited oversight and direction.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly communicate technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment; able to manage project tasks, scope change, and schedules to keep projects on-track.
Desired Skills
- Understanding of NAS Enterprise Architecture and other FAA mission/vision artifacts, FAA AMS and JRC process.
